An original vase for your spring flowers
Learn how to decorate a vase with glued-on coins to brighten up your room. Recycle those old tins lying around the house and turn them into original flower vases. Choose the coins, the sizes and the colours. There is no limit - you'll create a one-of-a-kind piece of vase decoration!
WHAT YOU NEED
- A superglue (e.g. Loctite Super Glue Power Flex)
- Porcelain tin
- Old coins
Get the Materials
You will need a superglue (e.g. Loctite Super Glue Power Flex), a porcelain tin, old coins, paint, a brush and a cloth.
Clean the tin
Before you start, remove any labels or old glue from the tin, so that it's ready to be transformed into your vase of choice. Remove any dirt or dust to ensure good adhesion of the glue by cleaning the surface of the tin with a damp cloth.
Choose the coins
Decide which coins you want to use. We recommend you to use smaller sized coins - not only because the monetary value is smaller, but also because they will look better on your vase. Before making the final decision, try placing them on top of the can to get an idea of the final result.
Glue the coins I
Apply a small drop of a superglue (e.g. Loctite Super Glue Power Flex) to the centre of the reverse side of each coin.
Glue the coins II
Stick your coins onto the tin, pressing for 10 seconds. Repeat this until you have covered as much of the surface as you wish. Create your favourite pattern by combining different sizes. The only limit is your imagination!
Paint the vase
Once dry, you can personalize your vase by painting it so that it goes with your living room decoration. So, what's your colour of choice? We'll use white paint.
Couldn't be better!
When you've finished, allow it to cure for at least 1 hour. In the meantime, you can go grab some flowers to let your vase decoration brighten up your living room even more! As you now know how to decorate a vase, you can make an original lamp with photo film that will look great next to your vase!
