WHAT YOU NEED
- Wallpaper adhesive (e.g. Solvite So Easy)
- Masking tape
- Paint roller
- Paint brush
- Scraper tool
- A level
Get the Materials
You will need a wallpaper adhesive (e.g. Solvite So Easy), wallpaper, a ruler, a level tool, scissors, a paint roller, a paint brush, a scraper tool, masking tape, a bucket and a stick to mix the product.
Choose the paper
Choose your favourite paper. If the room is for a child over 3 years old, let them take part in the decision-making process! Take care of the wallpaper instructions, because you will need them later.
Measure and cut the paper
Measure and cut the paper to fit the area you want to wallpaper. Make sure the patterns match. If your walls are very porous, use a wall primer in the right proportion to prime them. If it has old coverings and paste, make sure to remove these with a wallpaper remover (e.g. Solvite Wallpaper Remover).
Mix the glue
Stir the bottle content (or measured amount, e.g. 500g) of wallpaper adhesive (e.g. Solvite So Easy) within 15 seconds into a clean bucket of cold water (e.g. 5L). Stir again after 2-3 minutes. After that, the product will be ready to use.
Apply the paste
Before applying the paste to the wall, make sure it is dry, clean (e.g. free of dust, dirt, grease, wax, etc.), sustainable, evenly absorbent and smooth.
Then you can apply the mixed adhesive from the previous step to the back of the wallpaper with a paint brush or roller.
Fold over and wait
Fold the paper over itself, adhesive side to adhesive side, and let the product sit for about 10 minutes. The paper is ready when it has swelled a bit.
Hang the paper on the wall
Make sure you hang the paper at the correct angle and check that no bubbles have formed. Flatten with a cloth, paint roller or a scraper tool to improve the finish.
Admire your work
Get ready to be proud of the professional-looking finish you achieved with your own hands! Now that you've learned how to wallpaper check how you can fix a nice stylish shelf on your new wall!
