Install indirect lighting

Learn how to install indirect lighting in the ceiling crown moulding.

Want to give a special touch to your living room? Give your ceiling a new look by learning how to install indirect lighting. The projected light will make your room look much bigger and brighter.

WHAT YOU NEED

MATERIALS

- Mounting glue (e.g. UniBond No More Nails)
- Polystyrene coving
- LED light strips

TOOLS

- Cloth
- Spirit level
- Pencil
- Cartridge gun

Get the Materials

You will need mounting glue (e.g. UniBond No More Nails), a coving, LED lights, a level, a pencil, a cartridge gun and a cloth.

STEP 1

Mark the position

With a spirit level mark a horizontal line for where you would like to place the coving.

STEP 2

Clean the surface

Clean the surface to be glued and ensure it is free from dust, grease and other contaminates.  

Do not apply the coving on a wall which has wallpaper. You can, however, remove a strip of wallpaper in the area you would like to insert the coving.

STEP 3

Glue the coving to the wall

Apply a strip of mounting glue (e.g. UniBond No More Nails) to the coving and glue it to the wall and press it for 10 seconds. Make sure that the coving is leveled, you will have 5 minutes to make adjustments.

Let it dry

Before inserting the lighting, wait 24 hours until the adhesive is fully cured.

STEP 5

Insert the LED strips

Put the LED strips in the top of the coving (in the concave shape) and ensure that they cannot be seen from the floor.

STEP 6

It’s done!

Your living room has now a very cosy light that will enhance the nice moments spent with family and friends! Now that you know how to install indirect lighting you can hang a frame with no holes on the wall!
