WHAT YOU NEED
- Fast universal glue (e.g. Loctite 60 sec. All-Purpose Glue)
Get the materials
You will need a fast universal glue (e.g. Loctite 60 sec. All-Purpose Glue), sandpaper and a cloth.
Sand and clean the parts
To ensure that your wooden doll house is perfectly repaired, prepare the surfaces. With sandpaper, sand the parts of the broken piece and the part of the roof you're going to glue the piece to. Cleaning the contact surface will ensure that it is as flat and even as possible.
Position the broken piece
Once the parts have been well cleaned, position the broken part of the roof on the area where you will glue it to and check that the surfaces fit well together and that all the parts are touching each other. If this is not the case, sand the sides to be glued in order to ensure optimum contact. You sure don't want a crooked doll house!
Prepare the pieces
Place the two parts to be glued on your table. Position the broken part facing upwards so that the contact side is facing you. This will give you a better position for when you're applying the glue and will guarantee a perfect execution.
Apply the glue
Apply a thin bead of quick-setting universal glue (e.g. Loctite 60 sec. All-Purpose Glue) around the entire edge of the broken piece. Try to make a continuous, even bead of glue.
Glue the broken piece
Once you've applied all the glue, take the broken piece of the roof and slowly place it in position. Do it gradually to ensure that you're gluing it into the right position. Now, apply pressure to the entire contact area for 60 seconds. If you're using a repositionable glue, this is the time to finish positioning the piece and to check that it is totally aligned. Once the curing time has passed, that's it, the piece will be totally static.
